Russia registers 49,488 new cases of Covid-19, 91 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 49,488 new cases of Covid-19, or nearly 7,000 fewer than the day before, and 91 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Russia has registered 49,488 new cases of Covid-19 and 2,054 patients have been hospitalized, down 8% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 25 constituent territories, has decreased in 52, and has remained unchanged in eight, it said.

The daily morbidity has decreased by 7,263 cases from 56,751 reported on Sunday. The morbidity level is similar to that of March 12-13, when Russia saw fewer than 50,000 infections per day and the morbidity curve was on decline.

The number of daily hospitalizations is approximately the same as in March, when morbidity levels were similar.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 mortality is much lower in September than in March, when over 500-600 deaths from Covid-19 were reported daily, as against 91 in the past 24 hours and 101 the day before.

"Another 38,595 patients have recovered over the day, down 8.5% from September 18," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 20,488,583 cases of Covid-19, including 386,136 deaths and 19,425,631 recoveries.
