MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 59,035 new cases of Covid-19, or nearly 3,000 more than the day before, and 110 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Russia has recorded 59,035 new cases of Covid-19 and 4,178 patients have been hospitalized over the day, up 1.7% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 41 constituent territories, has decreased in 39, and has remained unchanged in five, it said.

The daily morbidity has grown by 2,909 cases from 56,126 reported the day before. The morbidity level is similar to that of March 9-10, when Russia saw about 60,000 infections per day but the morbidity curve was on decline.

The daily rate of hospitalizations is practically the same as in March, when the morbidity levels were similar.

The Covid-19 mortality has been much lower in September than in March, when over 500-600 deaths from Covid-19 were reported daily, as against 110 in the past 24 hours and 99 the day before. Meanwhile, the daily Covid-19 mortality is growing in Russia and is now close to the readings of mid-May.

"Another 50,020 patients have recovered over the past day, up 0.5% from September 15," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 20,324,039 cases of Covid-19, including 385,837 deaths and 19,294,876 recoveries.
