Ukraine to accumulate up to 15 bcm of gas by heating season, expects to receive 2 bcm from U.S., more from Nordic countries in winter - PM

MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Ukraine will be provided with all the necessary energy resources and reserves by the start of the upcoming heating season, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

In particular, Ukraine plans to increase its natural gas reserves in the underground gas storage facilities from the current 13.2 billion up to 15 billion cubic meters, he said.

"We currently see enough reserves to completely pass through the heating season," Ukrainian media quoted Shmyhal as saying.

Ukraine has reached agreement with the United States on the delivery of 2 billion cubic meters of gas in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, he said.

Ukraine is also holding negotiations with Norway and a consortium of countries on providing it with more gas, he said.
