Russia registers 51,735 new cases of Covid-19, 98 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 51,735 new cases of Covid-19, or 7,690 cases more than on Tuesday, and 98 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Russia has recorded 51,735 new cases of Covid-19 and 4,481 patients have been hospitalized, down 3.9% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 34 constituent territories, has decreased in 46, and has remained unchanged in five, it said.

The daily morbidity has grown by 7,690 cases from 44,045 reported on Tuesday. The morbidity level is similar to that of March 10-12, when Russia saw over 50,000 infections per day, while the morbidity curve was on decline.

The rate of hospitalizations is approximately the same as it was in March, when the morbidity levels were similar.

The Covid-19 mortality has been much lower in September than in March, when over 500-600 deaths from Covid-19 were reported daily, as against 98 in the past 24 hours and 101 the day before.

"Another 50,251 patients have recovered over the day, up 4.3% from September 13," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 20,208,878 cases of Covid-19, including 385,628 deaths and 19,195,104 recoveries.
