Gazprom purchased 10.6 bcm of gas from Turkmenistan in 2021

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Gazprom purchased 10.6 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan in 2021, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said at a press briefing.

Supplies to the Russian gas giant total up to 5.5 bcm per year in line with the contract concluded between Gazprom and national gas company Turkmengaz on July 1, 2019 for five years until June 30, 2024.

Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin said at a press conference in December of last year that the volume of gas purchased from Turkmenistan by Gazprom in 2021 was likely to double to around 10 bcm. Supplies in 2022 would be determined during additional talks between the parties, Blokhin said.

Purchases of Turkmen natural gas under the current contract and expansion of long-term cooperation in this sphere were discussed at the end of August during a meeting between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller.
