Prices, trading continued growing on Ukraine's electricity spot market in Aug

MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Electricity prices and trading in electricity on Ukraine's day-ahead and intraday market increased in August 2022, continuing a trend that began in July, Ukrainian media said on Monday.

According to a report from JSC Market Operator, the price index of baseload electricity grew 12.11% to 2,864.08 hryvni per MWh in August month-on-month.

The weighted average price of electricity over the aforementioned period increased 13.35% to 2,993.06 hryvni per MWh.

According to Market Operator data, the volume of electricity trading on the day-ahead market increased 18.67% to 778,429.9 hryvni per MWh, and on the intraday market by 12.89% to 49,444.2 hryvni per MWh.

The average prices on Ukraine day-ahead market were 71.7%-84.4% lower than those in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary, and on the intraday market 81.8%-84.5% lower than the prices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

As reported, trading on Ukraine's spot market for electricity began growing in July 2022 following a six-month decline, which began in early 2022. The price per kilowatt-hour of electricity has also been rising.
