Ukraine gets $4.6 bln in foreign aid in Aug, awaits EU macro-financial aid in Sept - early Oct - finance minister

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - A total of $3 billion in grant funds recently provided by the United States via the World Bank for Ukraine have increased the total amount of foreign assistance to the country in August to $4.6 billion, Ukrainian media quoted Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko as saying on Tuesday.

"We also expect a $1.5 billion grant from the U.S. in September, which is the last tranche, and we also expect macro-financial assistance from the European Union in September and early October [1 billion euros of 9 billion euros has been allocated so far]," he said during a national telethon.

As reported, the Finance Ministry first expected $6 billion in August and $4.7 billion in September, compared to $1.7 billion in July and $4.4 billion in June.
