Biden, Zelensky by phone discuss Zaporizhzhya NPP, new $3 bln military aid - White House

WASHINGTON. Aug 25 (Interfax) - United States President Joe Biden spoke by telephone to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, reassuring him of Washington's support for Kyiv, the White House said.

"The President reiterated the United States support for Ukraine [...], including the yesterday's announcement of nearly $3 billion dollars in weapons and equipment," White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said at a briefing, answering a question about the conversation.

The presidents brought up issues relating to the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, she said.

On Wednesday, Biden announced a new package of security aid for Ukraine worth around $2.98 billion to enable Ukraine to acquire air defense systems, artillery systems and ammunition, anti-drone weapons and radars.
