Rosneft completes Suzun-Vankor gas pipeline with capacity of 2.2 bcm for Vostok Oil

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - Rosneft has completed construction of the Suzun-Vankor gas pipeline with capacity to carry 2.2 billion cubic meters per year and begun comprehensive testing of the gas transport infrastructure of the Suzun field, which is part of the Vostok Oil project, the Russian oil and gas company reported.

The new 80-km Suzun-Vankor pipeline will feed associated petroleum gas from the Suzun field to the central collection point of the Vankor field, where it is processed to commercial quality.

The Suzun field has recoverable gas reserves of 39 bcm. Gas from both fields is fed into the country's unified gas transport system for delivery to customers.

Rosneft said synergy is achieved thanks to the use of existing infrastructure at Vankor. Almost 43 bcm of commercial gas has now been fed into the unified gas transport system from Vankor cluster fields, the company said.

The Suzun-Vankor gas pipeline was built on land and has two bridge crossings over bodies of water and four crossings under river beds, laid via directional drilling.

"Implementation of the gas program at the Suzunskoye field is an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of the large-scale Vostok Oil project. The Vankor field has one of the most extensive modern gas accumulation, treatment, and transportation systems, which allows us to achieve the highest utilization of associated petroleum gas in the industry - almost 100%," Rosneft said.

The resource base of the Vostok Oil project is more than 6 billion tons of low-sulphur oil, it includes 52 license areas in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, where 13 oil and gas fields are located, including the fields of the Vankor and Payakhskoye clusters.

RN-Vankor, a subsidiary of Rosneft, is the field development operator of the Vankor cluster.

Vostok Oil's liquid hydrocarbon production potential could reach 115 million tons per year. Rosneft has committed to shipping 30 million tons of oil from the project via the Northern Sea Route as early as 2024.
