Ukrenergo expects ENTSO-E to permit further rise in electricity export capacity on Sept 2
MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - The Ukrenergo national energy company of Ukraine expects the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) to endorse a decision to increase Ukraine's electricity export capacity from September 2, Ukrainian media quoted Ukrenergo CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi as saying at a conference organized by the Center for Economic Strategy on Tuesday.
The company expects to earn approximately 2 billion hryvni from distributed capacity sales in August, Kudrytskyi said.
As reported, Ukraine started Europe-bound commercial electricity exports to Romania on June 30, and to Slovakia on July 7, totaling a mere 100MW, i.e. 50MW in each direction.
ENTSO-E on July 30 endorsed a 2.5-fold increase in Ukrainian electricity exports to Europe to 250 MW.
Between June 30 and August 21, Ukrenergo earned 1.92 billion hryvni from selling the capacity for electricity exports to Romania and Slovakia.
