Russia registers 16,325 new cases of Covid-19, 60 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 16,325 new cases of Covid-19, or nearly 1,500 fewer than the day before, as well as 2,574 hospitalizations and 60 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"As of August 9, Russia recorded 16,325 new cases of Covid-19 and 2,574 patients were hospitalized, up 105.6% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 70 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in nine and has remained unchanged in six, it said. Hospitals admitted 1,252 Covid-19 patients the previous day.

Sixty patients died from Covid-19 over the day, versus 45 the previous day.

Daily morbidity has decreased by 1,537 cases from 17,862 infections reported on Monday. Morbidity levels have been on decline for two consecutive days.

"Another 13,092 patients have recovered, up 50.1% from August 8," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,746,886 cases of Covid-19, including 382,846 deaths and 18,061,168 recoveries.
