No prerequisites for Putin-Zelensky meeting - Kremlin

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - There are no prerequisites for Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky just yet, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"There are no prerequisites just yet for the meeting mentioned by Mr. Erdogan," Peskov said at a press briefing on Monday in response to a request for comment on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's proposal that such a meeting take place in Istanbul.

A Putin-Zelensky meeting "will be possible only after the negotiators' delegations do their homework," he said.

"The Ukrainian delegation to the negotiations has disappeared from the radar screen, so to say, and there is no negotiating process of the kind at present," Peskov said.

"The special military operation will be continuing until its objectives are achieved," he said.

Meanwhile, according to Peskov, Moscow does not see any prerequisites for the resumption of negotiations with Ukraine.

"There is only one thing I can say here: there are neither talks nor prerequisites for them at the moment," Peskov said in response to a question whether there is still a possibility for continuing talks with Ukraine or if this is no longer an option.
