Three ships carrying corn cleared to depart from Ukrainian ports - UN

NEW YORK, UN. Aug 5 (Interfax) - The Istanbul-based Joint Coordination Center has cleared three more ships carrying Ukrainian corn to use the marine humanitarian corridor, the UN News portal said.

"The Joint Coordination Center (JCC) which is managing the Black Sea Grain Initiative, [...], has authorized the departure of three vessels [...] carrying a total of 58,041 tonnes of corn," the report said.

All three ships are due to leave the ports on Friday morning, yet the actual time of departure depends on the weather and other unforeseen circumstances, the report said.

"The merchant ship Polarnet, anchored in Chornomorsk port, would leave [...] for Karasu in Turkiye. The Rojen, also anchored in Chornomorsk, is due to leave [...] for Teesport, in the north of England, while the Navistar, anchored in Odesa, will set off with 33,000 tons of corn, bound for Ringaskiddy, Ireland," it said.

The JCC will be closely monitoring the ships' safe passage through the marine humanitarian corridor, the report said.

In addition, the JCC will inspect MV Fulmar S destined for Chornomorsk. The bulker is currently anchored in the inspection zone northwest of Istanbul.

As Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said earlier, "Three ships carrying grain will leave Ukrainian ports on Friday consistent with the crucial deal concluded with Ankara's mediation."
