Russia has boosted oil exports to India - ambassador

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Russia has increased energy supplies to India several times and has been the second largest oil exporter to that country since May, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said.

"Perhaps some problems might emerge in some particular cases, but on the whole, I can confirm that energy exports from Russia to India have grown multifold over the past months," Alipov said in an interview on the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel.

May statistics showed that Russia became the second largest oil supplier to India, increasing its share in India's oil imports to 17% from 2%, he said.

July statistics showed the smoothing of net-weighted long-term demand and the establishment of a mutually beneficial equilibrium price, he said.

It would take some time to judge about real long-term trends, and yet "there is every reason to assume that they would continue to be positive, as this meets both countries' interests, Alipov said.
