Russia registers 10,824 new cases of Covid-19, 36 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 10,824 new cases of Covid-19, or almost 1,700 cases fewer than the day before, as well as 836 hospitalizations and 36 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"As of August 1, Russia recorded 10,824 new cases of Covid-19 and 836 patients were hospitalized, down 14.9% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 25 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 47, and has remained unchanged in 13, it said.

Thirty-six patients died from Covid-19 over the day, versus 38 the day before.

Daily morbidity has decreased by 1,674 cases from 12,498 infections reported on Sunday. The morbidity was higher than 12,000 cases for the two previous days, which was the highest reading since the middle of April.

"Another 6,077 patients have recovered over the past day, up 0.3% from July 31," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,612,543 cases of Covid-19, including 382,469 deaths and 17,981,475 recoveries.
