Ukraine cuts expectations of int'l financial support for gas market by a third - MP

MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - Legislative amendment submitted to the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada for the second reading lower expectations of international financial support for Ukraine's gas market, Ukrainian media outlets quoted Holos faction MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak as saying on social media.

"The size of financial support requested from international partners has decreased drastically: whereas the amount sought during the first reading stood at $5.1 billion (188 billion hryvni), now in the final version it is a mere $3.4 billion (125 billion hryvni)," Zheleznyak said.

As reported, the bill on financial support for gas and heat market drafted for the first reading envisaged that the difference between tariffs would be compensated for by donor and other international assistance (188.3 billion hryvni), dividends from Naftogaz of Ukraine, including advance dividends for 2022 (64.407 billion hryvni) and proceeds from the tax on revenue from the payment of these dividends (11.593 billion hryvni).
