Russia sees over 9,000 daily Covid-19 cases for first time since April, 36 patients with coronavirus die - HQ

MOSCOW. July 27 (Interfax) - The number of daily cases of Covid-19 recorded in Russia over the past 24 hours has exceeded 9,000 for the first time since late April, surpassing the relevant figure seen on Tuesday by nearly 3,000, while over 1,600 people diagnosed with coronavirus have been hospitalized and 36 have died, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"As of July 27, Russia has identified 9,027 new cases of Covid-19. The number of daily hospitalizations amounted to 1,628, having declined by 2.2% compared to the previous day," it said.

The number of related hospitalizations grew in 34, decreased in 48, and remained the same in three constituent territories of Russia, it said.

Thirty-six patients with coronavirus have died over the past 24 hours. On Tuesday, the headquarters reported 47 related deaths.

Compared to the previous day, when Russia saw 6,183 cases of Covid-19, the number of new infections has increased by 2,844. Daily cases have exceeded 9,000 nationwide for the first time since late April.

"As many as 5,115 people have recovered over the past 24 hours, or 5.7% fewer than on July 26," it said.

Russia has recorded a total of 18,554,036 cases of Covid-19, 382,272 related deaths, and 17,953,445 recoveries during the period of the pandemic.
