Iranian media: Putin to visit Tehran next week

TEHRAN. July 12 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is to visit Iran next week, the Iranian news agency Mehr said referring to Mohammad Reza Pour Ebrahimi, head of the Economy Commission at the Iranian parliament.

"The head of the Economy Commission at the Iranian parliament has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in Tehran next week," Mehr said.

Possible consultations between Putin and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi are likely to be focused on "the development of economic cooperation between Iran and Russia," Pour Ebrahimi said.

Following Raisi's visit to Russia early in 2022, Moscow has taken a more serious and positive attitude toward economic cooperation with Tehran, he said.

"During that visit, very favorable agreements were signed, and President Raisi heralded a new chapter in economic relations between Iran and Russia and assured the Russians that the Islamic Republic's government has earnest plans regarding economic cooperation with Russia," Mehr quoted Pour Ebrahimi as saying.

Raisi visited Moscow in January 2022.
