No details yet on fate of Sakhalin-1 project, decisions being made based on expediency for Russia - Peskov

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - No decisions like the ones made on the Sakhalin-2 project have been made yet in the case of the Sakhalin-1 project, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Individual decisions are being made in every individual case. We're guided exclusively by our interests, inasmuch as many partners on these projects have become unfriendly partners and hold an openly hostile position in relation to our country. We can't not take these factors into account," Peskov told journalists on Thursday.

"There is no overall trend. There are onetime decisions based exclusively on our own expediency," he said.

There are no "details" on the project just yet, Peskov said in answer to the relevant question.

"It's not a secret that there are manifestations of crisis in every area," Peskov said. "The government is handling all of this and coming up with proposals. Naturally, all manifestations of crisis are not going without attention," he said.

A decision on additional support for the Sakhalin region will be made in relation to the situation with the project "if necessary," Peskov said.
