Ukraine to receive first 1-bln-euro tranche of macro-financial aid before summer break - Dombrovskis

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - The European Commission's Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis has said that the first disbursement of one billion euro under the new program of macro-financial assistance for Ukraine, will be paid by the beginning of the summer holidays.

He made the announcement on Monday in Lugano, while speaking at an international high-level conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, the Ukrainian media reported.

"We are now working on providing a further 9 billion euro in new exceptional macro-financial assistance. The first part will come before summer break. It is 1 billion euro. After endorsement by the European Parliament and EU Member States," Dombrovskis said.

Also added to this program will be "other bilateral and multilateral international partners," he said. By way of example, he cited Germany's 1 billion euro grant and the U.S. $1.3 billion aid package.
