Rosatom to complete construction of Belarusian NPP in 2022 - Putin

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Russia's state atomic energy corporation Rosatom is planning to complete the construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in the Grodno region this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Rosatom is planning to complete the construction of the Belarusian NPP this year. And Belarusian experts will participate in the construction by Roscosmos of facilities of the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur region," Putin said in his address to participants in the Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions.

"Further expansion of interaction in the high tech sector where we already have many examples of successful cooperation is especially important," the Russian president said.

Russia and Belarus "consider launching prospective programs aimed at industrial and technological upgrade" a priority joint task, he said.

"Russia is also ready to support the implementation of a whole range of Belarusian investment projects to create new and upgrade existing production units in the Republic [of Belarus] and our country," Putin said.
