Uzbekneftegaz-Tatneft 1-hexene, 1-butene production enterprise can be built in Uzbekistan in two years

TASHKENT. June 27 (Interfax) - An enterprise to produce 1-hexene and 1-butene based on an Uzbekneftegaz and Tatneft project could be built in two years after financing issues are solved if all documentation is prepared, head of the consolidated information and analytical department of Uzbekistan GTL Shokhrukh Kholmatov said.

"It depends on the financing. Two years max if everything is ready, because this isn't a giant, colossal plant, it's like an additional production facility, an additional processing unit," Kholmatov said.

Uzbekneftegaz intends to transition to working on a feasibility study for two petrochemical projects with Tatneft for the production of benzene, toluene, and xylene and the production of 1-hexene and 1-butene by the end of the year, head of Uzbekneftegaz's Gas Chemicals Department Alisher Bakhadirov told journalists on Friday. The total capacity of these two enterprises could total from 110,000 tonnes to 130,000 tonnes of products per year, Bakhadirov said.

There are plans to organize 1-hexene and 1-butene production on the basis of Uzbekistan GTL and benzene, toluene, and xylene production presumably on the basis of Navoiyazot, Kholmatov said.

Another four petrochemical facilities could be created on the basis of Uzbekistan GTL in the future. Like the project with Tatneft, three projects are in the pre-feasibility study stage, and one project to produce linear alkylbenzenes is ready for the start of implementation.

Negotiations on implementing the linear alkylbenzenes project are being conducted with Turkish partners. They have expressed readiness to purchase the feedstock from Uzbekistan GTL and independently process them, building a corresponding enterprise, although Uzbekneftegaz insists on the necessity of selecting another form of cooperation involving not only the sale of feedstock to foreign partners, but also involvement in higher value added production.

One of the five petrochemical projects for Uzbekistan GTL is being worked on jointly with ExxonMobil , Kholmatov said.
