More people cross into Ukraine than leave it on Sunday - Border Service

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Nearly 38,000 people left Ukraine via its western border in Sunday, June 26, compared to nearly 43,000 people on Saturday, while 46,000 crossed into Ukraine on Sunday, against over 46,000 on Saturday, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Border Service reports on social media.

The number of trucks carrying humanitarian cargo cleared for crossing the border remained under 100, while the number of cars crossing into Ukraine has been quite large in the past five days, reaching 20,000-21,000 daily. Ukraine is to repeal a customs duty exemption on imported cars on July 1.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency information as of 1:00 p.m. June 21, a total of 8.007 million people have departed Ukraine since February 24, with 4.146 million of these having crossed into Poland, 1.305 million Russia, some 814,600 Hungary, about 691,400 Romania, 507,600 Moldova, 525,600 Slovakia, and 16,700 Belarus.

At the same time, according to the UN, 2.837 million people entered Ukraine between February 28 and June 21, exclusive of those who have arrived from Hungary, Russia, and Belarus.
