Number of Canadian citizens sanctioned by Russia tops 700

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Russia has imposed a travel ban on another 43 Canadian citizens, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"In response to additional sanctions imposed by the Canadian authorities in May regarding top management of Russian companies and their family members, Russia declares a permanent travel ban on 43 Canadian citizens: federal and regional officials, members of the ruling Liberal Party, and public persons," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

As of this moment, Russia has imposed restrictions on 701 Canadian citizens.
