Europe might invest some 150 mln euros in construction, modernization of Ukrainian clinics by end of 2022 - health minister

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - European investments in the construction and modernization of Ukrainian clinics might amount to about 150 million euros by the end of 2022, Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said.

"I have urged investors, businesses, and the European Union not to wait but start modernizing hospitals and policlinics already today. Potentially, we agreed at meetings with investors now that some 150 million euros might be invested as early as this year in the construction of rehabilitation clinics or modernization of the existing hospitals," Ukrainian media quoted Lyashko as saying during a national TV marathon on Thursday.

In line with European practices, university clinics might be set up on the basis of some Ukrainian clinics, Lyashko said. In particular, the Medical University of Lublin might open a university clinic in Ukraine, he said.

Ukraine's partners from Europe and the United States have donated about 8,000 tonnes of medicines and medical items worth about 11 billion hryvni as humanitarian aid for Ukraine, he said.
