EU should do a bit more for Ukraine than for its members - Zelensky

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - The European Union should do a little more for Ukraine than for its members because Ukraine is now at the forefront of defending European values, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

"What should the European Union do for us? It should make Ukraine its full-fledged member. And it should also do for Ukraine everything that it does for its member states. And, since we are at the forefront of defending these fair values today, it should probably do a little more for us than it does for all other states. Because we are in a more challenging situation now," the Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying on Monday by video link at the Global Policy Forum.

Ukraine may receive EU candidate country status as soon as this week, the president said.

"This will only increase our strength," he said.
