Russia's Finance Ministry forecasts decline in volume of NWF to 6.8% of GDP in 2023-25 from 9.1% at end of 2022

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The volume of the National Wealth Fund (NWF) should decrease to 12.837 trillion rubles, 9.1% of GDP, at the end of 2022 from 13.565 trillion rubles, 10.4% of GDP, in 2021, according to the assessments in the draft of the main guidelines for the budget, tax and customs tariff policy for 2023 and for the planning period of 2024-2025, as prepared by the Finance Ministry, a source familiar with the contents of the document told Interfax.

The volume of the NWF should decline to 11.758 trillion rubles, 8% of GDP, in 2023; and decrease to 11.3 trillion rubles, 7.1% of GDP, in 2024; and then rise in monetary terms to 11.398 trillion rubles in 2025, though decreasing to 6.8% of GDP.

There are plans to invest funds from the NWF in infrastructure projects over the entire forecast horizon, according to the document, with the total volume of investment envisaged at 5 trillion rubles for 2022-2025.
