Zelensky meets with UK secretary of defense in Kyiv

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met with UK Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace in Kyiv, the Ukrainian media said, citing the Ukrainian presidential press service.

"The president thanked the secretary of state for defense of the United Kingdom for the effective support for Ukraine by the British government," Zelensky's press service said.

The UK is a "true friend of Ukraine", Zelensky said.

The events of the past few months have shown "who our real friends and partners are. Not only strategic, but also those who are effective today. One of such friends is the United Kingdom," Zelensky said.

During the meeting, the parties separately discussed the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine and exchanged opinions on possible ways to unblock the Ukrainian seaports in a bid to avert a global food crisis.
