Energoatom to start supplying electricity to Moldova from June 4

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Energoatom, Ukraine's nuclear power plant operator, has signed an export contract with Moldova's state-owned Energocom, according to which it plans to supply 85,200 megawatt-hours of electricity to Moldova in June at $77 per MWh.

Energoatom "has a lot of potential to increase power generation, so its export to Moldova, and subsequently to neighboring EU countries, is an extremely promising area of the company's trading activity," the company said on Telegram.

The exports will give Energoatom an additional source of financing for public service obligations, in accordance with which it supplies electricity to households.

Energoatom said Ukrainian exports will allow Moldova to diversify electricity supplies and strengthen the country's energy security.

Energoatom has bought 150 MW of capacity to supply electricity Moldova on June 4-5 at daily auctions. Ukrhydroenergo, which has been exporting electricity to Moldova since May 12, bought another 200 MW.

Four companies bought 420 MW of capacity at a monthly auction to supply electricity to Moldova: D.Trading bought 403 MW, LTK Elektrum 10 MW, UkrGaz Resource 5 MW, and GS-Trading 2 MW.

In addition, at a daily auction on June 1 for exporting 110 MW during the first four hours and 180 MW for the rest of the day to Moldova, the entire capacity was purchased by Ukrhydroenergo, which had started exporting 80 MW to 170 MW of electricity to Moldova depending on the part of the day since mid-May. No capacity was purchased for June 2-3.
