EU grants Bulgaria opportunity to continue buying Russian oil until end of 2024

SOFIA. May 31 (Interfax) - The European Union has granted Bulgaria the opportunity to delay imposing the embargo on purchasing Russian oil until the end of 2024, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said on Bulgarian national radio on Tuesday.

"The text was agreed on yesterday. The actual agreements will come in two days, and they will include a separate clause on Bulgaria with a special dispensation [regarding postponement of the Russian oil embargo] until the end of 2024," Petkov was quoted as saying.

"This will assist in preparing our refining industry to process other oil," the prime minister said.
