Moldova observing neutrality principle in cooperation with NATO - Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration

CHISINAU. May 23 (Interfax) - Cooperation with NATO does not contradict the principle of Moldova's neutrality, Daniel Voda, press secretary of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, said.

"It is known that our country is working with many partners in the sphere of security and defense. The purpose of this dialogue is participation in ensuring peace and security and the necessary defense capabilities of the Armed Forces to counter potential threats. These actions are part of the tasks to promote our national interests," Voda said on Monday, commenting on the statement by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss on the possibility of NATO countries' weapons deliveries to Moldova.

"Cooperation between Moldova and NATO takes place with the observance of the neutral status of Moldova, which is written in the Constitution. Our cooperation with NATO takes place under the Partnership for Peace program with regard for the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP). One of the central elements of this cooperation is the need to observe the principle of our country's neutrality by all interested countries," he said.
