Ukraine withdraws from CIS agreement on prevention of illegal migration

KYIV. May 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has passed a law on withdrawal from the Agreement on Cooperation among the Countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on Prevention of Illegal Migration.

The adoption of the relevant bill was backed on its merits by 287 people's deputies at a plenary session on Sunday, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of the Holos faction, said on his Telegram channel.

According to the document, withdrawal from the agreement will release Ukraine from the formal obligations that follow from it and will intensify the process of signing bilateral agreements between Ukraine and other states with regard to modern approaches to the fight against illegal migration and the settlement of readmission issues.
