First concrete poured at fourth unit of China's Xudabao nuclear plant

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The ceremony for the pouring of the first concrete has been held at the fourth generating unit of the Xudabao Nuclear Power Plant in China, which is being built based on the Russian VVER-1200 reactor design, Atomstroyexport (ASE), a division of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, reported.

Construction has entered the active phase, the company said. "The implementation of the project to build two of the latest generation III+ units at the Xudabao NPP is proceeding according to schedule, even ahead of schedule," ASE vice president for projects in China Alexei Bannik was quoted as saying in the press release.

"The Russian side is fulfilling its obligations in full: a group of engineers supporting the project is working at the site, equipment and design documentation are being delivered according to contractual obligations," Bannik said.

Concurrently, construction of the third unit at the Xudabao plant is also in its active phase, ASE said.
