U.S. Embassy in Kyiv resumes operations - state secretary

WASHINGTON. May 18 (Interfax) - The Embassy of the United States in Kyiv has officially resumed its operations, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

"Now, that day has come. Today we are officially resuming operations at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv," Blinken said in a statement.

The U.S. flag has been raised over the embassy building, he said. The U.S. secretary of state also said that "additional measures to increase the safety of our colleagues who are returning to Kyiv" were taken.

"We reaffirm our commitment to the people and government of Ukraine," Blinken said.
