Over 6 mln leave Ukraine since Feb 24 - UN

BRUSSELS. May 12 (Interfax) - More than 6 million people have left Ukraine since the launch of Russia's special operation, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Thursday.

According to the organization, more than 3.2 million of them moved to Poland, about 895,000 to Romania and more than 785,000 to Russia.

Refugees from Ukraine have also been received in Hungary (583,000), Moldova (459,500), Slovakia (409,500), and Belarus (27,300).

At the same time, the UNHCR noted that more than 1.6 million Ukrainians had returned to Ukraine since February 28.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine.
