Belarus extends ban on imports of Skoda, Liqui Moly, Beiersdorf products

MINSK. May 5 (Interfax) - The Belarusian government has extended the ban on imports of Skoda, Liqui Moly and Beiersdorf products until November 2022 with a respective resolution published on the national web portal of legal information on Thursday.

"The validity of Clauses 2 and 4 of Belarusian Government Resolution No. 240 'On the Enforcement of Special Measures', dated April 23, 2021, will be extended through November 4, 2022," the resolution said.

The ban was imposed in April 2021 "to protect the national interests in the context of unfriendly actions towards the Belarusian people" and applied to Liqui Moly, Skoda Auto and Beiersdorf products (Nivea, Eucerin, La Prairie, Labello, Hansaplast, Florena, 8X4, Skin Stories, Gammon, Tesa, Chaul, Coppertone, Hidrofugal, and Stop the Water While Using Me trademarks).

The ban does not apply to goods imported for personal use and vehicles registered in Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states or temporarily admitted to the EAEU customs territory.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed the order "On the Enforcement of Special Measures" on March 30, 2021, to ban the imports and distribution in Belarus of the commodities from countries that imposed sanctions on Belarusian companies or individuals. The order tasked the government with making a list of goods and manufacturers to which the sanctions would apply.
