New Kyrgyz FM appointed

BISHKEK. April 29 (Interfax) - Jeenbek Kulubayev has been appointed as new foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan, the presidential press service reported on Friday.

"Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed a decree appointing Jeenbek Kulubayev minister of foreign affairs of Kyrgyzstan," it said.

Kulubayev has been relieved of his previous duties.

Japarov accepted former Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev's resignation on April 22 and appointed Kulubayev acting foreign minister. Kulubayev had previously led the presidential foreign policy division.

Kulubayev is 59. He served in the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry system from 1992 up to his appointment as head of the presidential foreign policy division in 2021. He was Kyrgyzstan's ambassador to China in 2009-2010 and ambassador to Kazakhstan in 2018-2021.
