Estonian govt approves ban on procurements from Russian companies, individuals

TALLINN. April 28 (Interfax) - The Estonian government approved amendments to the public procurement law at a meeting on Thursday.

The amendments aim at implementing EU sanctions and prohibiting the conclusion or extension of procurement contracts with citizens or resident companies of the Russian Federation.

The bill allows buyers to ask for data verification and proof from companies participating in the public procurement process that they are not subject to international sanctions, the government press service said.

Grounds for tender rejections and exclusions will be adjusted in the context of possible sanctions.

Contracts with subjects of international sanctions can be terminated prematurely.

The bill will take effect on June 1, 2022.
