European Commission proposes one-year suspension of import duties on all Ukrainian goods - PM Shmyhal

KYIV. April 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The European Commission has proposed suspending for one year all import duties on all Ukrainian goods delivered to the European Union, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"Today the European Commission proposed suspending all import duties on all Ukrainian goods delivered to the European Union for a one-year period. It is an unprecedented gesture of support for our country. Never before has the EU taken such large-scale trade liberalization measures in relation to any country. It will open up additional opportunities for our business, and our products will gain an extra competitive edge on the European market. We held talks on cancelling the duties with our European partners and we are grateful that they have heard us and supported Ukraine," Shmyhal said on Telegram on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian government is holding negotiations with Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Germany and other countries on the possibility of sending Ukrainian exports through these countries' ports, he said.

"We keep working to persuade our other allies to lift duties on Ukrainian goods along with EU countries and the United Kingdom," he said.
