Weekly inflation rates have approached normal levels amid stabilizing forex market, normalizing consumer demand - Putin

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - Weekly inflation rates in Russia have approached normal figures amid the stabilizing forex market as well as normalizing consumer demand, President Vladimir Putin said during a conference call meeting on economic issues.

"I would like to emphasize that the Russian economy continues to stabilize. Inflation has slowed, the weekly rate of price growth has approached the normal level, and prices for some goods have already begun to decline," Putin said.

The president noted that two important factors are at work here according to experts.

"This is the situation on the forex market, where the ruble exchange rate has been actively strengthening recently; and the second factor is the dynamics of consumer demand," Putin said.
