Passenger traffic via western border into and out of Ukraine again almost equal

KYIV. April 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Passenger traffic across Ukraine's border with the European Union and Moldova increased 3% to 71,000 on April 20, while the number of people leaving Ukraine is again almost equal to the number of those entering the country, the Ukrainian State Border Service said.

Around 35,000 people, among them some 31,000 Ukrainian citizens, entered Ukraine on April 20, as compared to some 30,000, including 29,000 Ukrainians, the day before, the State Border Service said on social media.

Meanwhile, outbound traffic stood at over 36,000 people on Wednesday, as compared to 39,000 on Tuesday, with Poland still taking more than 60% of people who leave Ukraine.

The number of vehicles with humanitarian cargoes cleared for entry to Ukraine in the past day increased to 350 from 330 the day before, it said.

Data released by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees as of 1:00 p.m. on April 20 show that 5.09 million people have left Ukraine since February 24. Of them, Poland has taken 2.85 million, Romania and Moldova 828,270, Russia 563,270, Hungary 476,210, Slovakia 346,180, and Belarus 23,900.

A total of 1.1 million people have entered Ukraine since February 24, the State Border Service said.
