Polish president hopes Ukraine becomes part of EU, Latvian president pledges support to Kyiv in grain exports

KYIV. April 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Polish President Andrzej Duda has said he hopes that Ukraine will soon become a part of the European Union.

"I hope that Ukraine will soon become a part of the EU as a free, sovereign, independent state to shape its future and make decisions by itself," Duda said at a joint press briefing with the presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in Kyiv on Wednesday.

In his words, these countries will do everything they can to support Ukraine, which is not a NATO member but is a fraternal state.

Meanwhile, Latvian President Egils Levits said that Latvia was ready to help with Ukrainian grain exports by routing grain through Latvian ports.

"We have also discussed other matters with President Zelensky. We can help with grain exports from Ukraine, so that the supply is routed through Latvian ports. Immediately after this meeting, we called our governments and decided to take further measures to achieve the desired results of such efforts," Levits said.
