Belarus suspends payments to unfriendly foreign residents - president's decree

MINSK. April 7 (Interfax) - President Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree entitled "On writs of execution" which suspends payments to unfriendly foreign residents, the president's press service stated on Thursday.

"The document aims to protect Belarusian businesses from having assets written off from their accounts at the demand of a resident of a foreign state which commits unfriendly acts in regard to Belarusian legal or physical persons," the statement said.

The decree suspends the execution of payment documents issued in favor of such residents.

In addition, banks and other financial institutions will not be allowed to accept a payment request on a writ of execution, filed by any such resident on their own without a payer's consent.
