Meta facing new fine for failure to delete banned content from social network - court

MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - A magistrates' court in Moscow has registered a new administrative offense protocol against the company Meta (recognized in Russia as extremist and banned) associated with failure to delete information banned in Russia from one of its social networks.

"The court hearing for Meta Platforms Inc. is scheduled to be held in Magistrate District 422 at 10:00 a.m. on April 24," the court told Interfax.

Russia's telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor earlier compiled an administrative offense protocol against the company for failure to delete content banned in Russia, an offense punishable with a fine of up to four million rubles.

According to court data, the company is accused of failure to delete information associated with insults to Russian authorities, including the president, and state symbols.
