Domestic air traffic in Russia down 1% YoY, international traffic up 2.8-fold in Feb

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Domestic air traffic in February 2022 was down 1% year-on-year to 4.4 million people, according to updated statistics from the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia).

International traffic from Russia stood at about 1.6 million people, of which 611,000 went to the CIS, and 960,000 -outside it, up 2.8-fold from a year previously, when restrictions due to Covid-19 were much stricter.

Russian airlines carried a total of just under 6 million passengers, up 19%, in February. Provisional data published by the agency in early March was somewhat different: passenger traffic was estimated at 6.4 million people, which implied year-on-year growth of 28%.

Passenger turnover grew 39% year-on-year in February to 14 billion passenger-km and commercial load was 77.6%, down 0.6 pp.

Russian airlines carried 14 million passengers in January-February, up 34% year-on-year.
