Australia imposes sanctions on 22 Russian media employees, Belarusian president

WASHINGTON, D.C. March 25 (Interfax) - The Australian government has imposed sanctions on 22 employees of Russian media outlets, as well as Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and his family members, the Australian Foreign Ministry said.

"The Australian Government has also placed new sanctions on 22 additional Russian propagandists and purveyors of disinformation, including senior editors from organizations including Russia Today, the Strategic Culture Foundation, InfoRos and NewsFront," the ministry said in a statement.

Australia has also placed sanctions on the Belarusian president and some of his family members, including his son, Viktor Lukashenko, and the Belarusian first lady, Galina Lukashenko, it said.

"The Australian Government reiterates our unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for the people of Ukraine," it said.

"Australia, in close coordination with our partners, will continue to impose further sanctions to inflict significant costs on those in Russia and Belarus who bear responsibility or hold levers of power," the ministry said.
