Ukraine expects real security guarantees from NATO - Zelensky

KYIV. March 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine expects tangible steps and tangible security guarantees from NATO, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an address to the leaders of the NATO member states.

"NATO has yet to show what the alliance can do to save people. Show that this is a powerful defense alliance in the world indeed," Zelensky said in an address to leaders of the NATO countries on Thursday.

"Ukraine is expecting and waiting for tangible actions and tangible security guarantees from those whose word is worth confidence and whose deeds can preserve peace," Zelensky said.

"Our proposals and our needs are on the table. We need peace immediately. Answers rest solely with you," he said.

Speaking at the NATO summit, Zelensky said that Kyiv needed unlimited military assistance.

"Ukraine needs military assistance without limitations," Zelensky said, adding that the alliance could offer Ukraine 1% of all of its tanks and aircraft.

Ukraine has appealed to NATO countries to provide it with planes and tanks either for payment or for free, he said.

"But we were given none," Zelensky said. "Not having clear answers to requests for help is the most terrible thing that can happen in wartime," he said.
