Slovak embassy to Ukraine moved from Kyiv to Uzhhorod

KYIV. March 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has transferred Slovakia's embassy to Ukraine from Kyiv to Uzhhorod, Slovakia's Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok said, according to the Slovak news agency TASR.

"The deputy head of Slovakia's diplomatic mission is already working there. The ambassador will go to Uzhhorod on Thursday [March 24]," according to TASR.

By this step, Slovakia wants to demonstrate that it stays in Ukraine, it said. The embassy will employ the same staff who have been evacuated from Kyiv. The ministry will constantly monitor the situation.

"I believe that it is an important step to accommodate Ukraine. It is also an important step to diplomatic service, because they will help on the ground, on the border. They will provide all diplomatic services and, most significantly, will cover the developments in Ukraine," Korcok said.
