EU permanent reps agree on 4th package of anti-Russian sanctions over Ukraine situation

BRUSSELS. March 14 (Interfax) - The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union countries in Brussels (Coreper) has agreed on another package of sanctions on Russia due to the situation in Ukraine, France's presidency of the EU Council said.

"Coreper II in cooperation with our international partners have approved the fourth package of sanctions, which affects individuals and legal entities involved in the aggression against Ukraine, as well as several sectors of the Russian economy," France's presidency of the EU Council said on Twitter.

"These measures will take effect as soon as they are promptly published in the Official Journal of the European Union," a message published on Monday evening said.

The EU permanent representatives approved "a WTO [World Trade Organization] statement on Russia's aggression against Ukraine concerning the suspension of the most-favored-nation clause with regard to Russia and the suspension of considering Belarus' candidacy to the WTO," it also said.
