Uzbekistan transfers embassy in Ukraine to Lviv from Kyiv

TASHKENT. March 14 (Interfax) - The Uzbek embassy to Ukraine has been transferred to Lviv from Kyiv, Uzbek Foreign Ministry spokesman Yusup Kabulzhanov said.

"The embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Ukraine has been relocated temporarily to the city of Lviv," Kabulzhanov wrote on Telegram.

Embassy officials are continuing to work on evacuating Uzbek citizens from Ukraine and maintaining permanent contacts with compatriots staying in different parts of the country, he said.

The Uzbek embassy in Kyiv started evacuating Uzbek citizens via Lviv and Poland on February 28. At the present time, over 5,600 Uzbek citizens have been brought home on special flights by Uzbekistan Airways.
